How can blinds get information in Public Transports using PDA? The RAMPE Auditive Man Machine Interface
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper describes the RAMPE system for the mobility and autonomy of blind people in public transports. It is intended to equip bus or tramway stops or to be installed in poles of transport interactions. In the system, the user carries a smart handheld device (PDA) that communicates by a wireless WiFi connection with fixed equipment in the bus or tram stations. A special care has been given to the design of the man machine interface and to the management of priorities in the real-time vocal information application.

Using Sounds to Present and Manage Information in Computers
The auditive modality, such as speech, signals and natural sounds, is one of the most important ways to present and communicate information. However, in computer interfaces the possibilities of auditive modality have been almost totally neglected. Usually the audio consists of simple signals (beeps and clicks) or background music. The present paper outlines some of the possibilities in presenti...
متن کاملError assessment in man-machine systems using the CREAM method and human-in-the-loop fault tree analysis
Background and Objectives: Despite contribution to catastrophic accidents, human errors have been generally ignored in the design of human-machine (HM) systems and the determination of the level of automation (LOA). This paper aims to develop a method to estimate the level of automation in the early stage of the design phase considering both human and machine performance. Methods: A quantita...

English) This work will present the iManual concept of using PDAs as context-sensitive and interactive help systems for sufficiently complex devices that was developed along with this diploma thesis. The concept was prototypically realized for using the navigation system of a BMW 7, but is also transferable to using coffee machines, washing machines, photocopiers, industrial machines etc. Using...
متن کاملQuantative Evaluation of the Efficiency of Facial Bio-potential Signals Based on Forehead Three-Channel Electrode Placement For Facial Gesture Recognition Applicable in a Human-Machine Interface
Introduction: Today, facial bio-potential signals are employed in many human-machine interface applications for enhancing and empowering the rehabilitation process. The main point to achieve that goal is to record appropriate bioelectric signals from the human face by placing and configuring electrodes over it in the right way. In this paper, heuristic geometrical position and configuration of ...
